I had this total realization during this episode. And If you’ve ever read The Once and Future King by TH White, you might get what I’m thinking.
Tarrlok is following the notion of “Might is Right” in which it is believed that power and using physical strength, in this case, bending, over others is acceptable. Because of this, he justifies his use of bending to oppress the nonbenders, mostly citizens rather than actual associates with Amon, as morally correct.
Korra follows the idea of “Might for Right” in which she uses the power she has, especially as the Avatar, to help benefit the lives of others in order to bring balance and peace between the nonbenders and benders.
Yeah, there’s my two cents worth on this weekend’s episode. lol
But seriously. If Tarrlok keeps this up, Amon’s going to start looking like the good guy…
